Texas is an agency state. That being said it is our belief that not only does everyone have the right to be represented but in most cases should be represented.
The real estate commission for the State of Texas requires that the agent present to every prospective seller and buyer a notice of Information on Brokerage Services that explains your choices of agency. As a prospective buyer or seller it is important that you receive this notice and understand your choices under agency law in Texas.
Once you have established an agency relationship, the agent as your fiduciary, owes you Obedience (with the law), Loyalty, Disclosure, Confidence, Accountability, and Reasonable care and responsibility.
A professional and well trained agent working for you as your fiduciary can make a tremendous difference in the ease of the home buying process.
